Thinking of applying for teaching?

As you may have heard, there have been changes to the funding for applicants to teaching. In effect this means that the bursaries are now only available for those who want to teach secondary pupils Physics, Chemistry, Engineering or Maths (£9,000)  or Biology, General Science or Modern Foreign Languages (£6,000).

Apparently PGCE applicants can still access the tuition fee loan, maintenance loan and means tested non-repayable maintenance grant, but there will be no interim measures for 2011 starters. Sadly this may affect some of you have applied for starting this year, and for those thinking of applying for next year.

The TDA have also allocated the places for entry this year, so if you have applied and are expecting to hear confirmation of your place, be prepared for possible changes.

If you find that these decisions are impacting on you, then don’t forget you can still access help and advice from us if you are within three years of graduation.
See the TDA website for all the details.
