Careers in the public sector

Hello, for those of you wanting to break into careers in the public sector,  there was a special supplement in The Guardian last Wednesday, covering a wide range of topics and publicising new opportunities in this sector. If you missed it see the link below.

It includes coverage of current recruitment trends in the public sector, plus information on graduate schemes and internships .

Recent developments which may be of interest to you include a new graduate social care management scheme which profiles some of its first intakes; and the Charity Works scheme, described as “the ultimate introduction” to working in the charity sector.

Events and vacancies

Term has started once again.  At the Careers Service this means that we have started our new programme of talks, workshops and fairs.  You are welcome to attend these even if you have graduated, so if you are in the Manchester area check out the forthcoming sessions.

Even if you are not in Manchester any more you might like to chat with other graduates on the careers service forum or get advice from us via our online interactive services.

There has been a definate upturn in the number of vacancies coming through, most companies have opened applications for their 2010 graduate schemes, and there are still a fair few immediate start vacancies being advertised as well.
