You can never be too careful

Following on from Holly’s post yesterday, you may have heard in the news this week about a company who’ve been advertising via university Careers Services for Sales Advisors but who are allegedly involved in a fraudulent operation, selling non-existent shares. We handle thousands of vacancies and our vacancy team works hard to ensure that the vacancies we advertise are legal and above board. We have policies and procedures in place to try and filter out any vacancies which appear suspicious. Organisations can however sometimes be so sophisticated in their deception that it’s hard to spot that there is anything amiss. So I suppose it’s a salutary warning that, in this day and age, you can never be too careful.

If you are applying for jobs at the moment, make sure you feel happy with way you’ve been treated, the information you’ve been given, the premises you’ve visited and anything else which might give you cause for concern. To be honest, rest assured that scams of this nature are rare and Careers Services generally do catch the main offenders before they slip through the net but there’s no harm in seeking advice or help from us if you think something might not be all it seems to be. We’re here to help you.
