Being a Mancunian, born and bred, I can quite appreciate why most of you won’t be ready to tear yourself away from this fantastic City just yet. I love it and chose to settle here, at least for the foreseeable future. I firmly believe that you don’t have to go to London or in fact anywhere else to find a graduate career. Manchester is the UK’s second city, so really, why should you? If you don’t believe me, then you need to sign up to the new Manchester Graduate Internship Programme. This is a brand new initiative that I’m involved in managing.
We are setting up short-term paid internships for you, our grads. These will be in a range of organisations across Greater Manchester, from all sectors (public, commercial, voluntary etc) and of all sizes. We thought that you might appreciate the chance to get some real and valuable work experience, without committing to a three year training scheme. Sound good? In addition, you will receive training from some of the leading graduate recruiters in Manchester so you’ll definitely be streets ahead of all the other grads looking for work by the time your internship finishes. Sound even better? We hope so because we’re very excited about MGIP (as we are calling it) and we really want you to be too.
All the internship opportunities will be advertised via our website and you can also apply for any internships you’re interested in via the website.
So if you want to find out all the details about MGIP – exactly what’s involved and what’s in it for you, then take a look at http://www.careers.manchester.ac.uk/mgip
